Lady: Quirky aristocrat Sian Clifford hires a documentary crew to film her attempts at winning a talent show in Samuel Abrahams’ visually appealing exploration into the desire to be seen, with outstanding performances from Clifford & @lauriekynaston. Score sounds beautiful. 8/10

Saturday at the Manchester Film Festival was lovely. Filmed interviews with the filmmakers of the ‘North West Shorts 1’ programme, which I then went and saw. It was such a wide variety of brilliant short films, including two featuring my good friends @Rossi_T_ and @fayebennett58.

Chatlines: Terminally ill @lemfilms falls in love with a 2005 Nico Mirallegro via a chatting app in this unique hybrid of screenlife and time travel, with entertaining ensemble. Atmosphere is witty and endearing, but deep as it makes you think about your own mortality. 8/10

Friday night @mcrfilmfestival was terrific. We started off with ‘Box of Frogs’. @mfhorne is on top form as an OCD-sufferer in group therapy in Ian Puleston-Davies’ short, that’s funny & interesting. Supporting cast: also great, including Anna Chancellor as the group leader. 7/10

Honestly, whoever decided to market films by showcasing how they look in IMAX 70mm is a genius. Please never stop.

Chuck Norris, the martial arts champion who became an iconic action star and led the hit series “Walker, Texas Ranger,” has died. He was 86. Norris was hospitalized in Hawaii on Thursday, and his family posted a statement saying he had died Friday morning: It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. We start with the premiere of #Psychopomp, the short directorial debut of Kit Harington. Suicidal Harry Melling hires a hitman to drive him to his final resting place in this funny and deep drama with terrific art design & powerful performances by Melling and Ciarán Owens. 9/10

Today, I watched ‘Misbehaviour’ on @NetflixUK. An interesting biographical drama about feminists disrupting Miss World 1970. Performances were great from the cast, including from NOW Oscar-winner Jessie Buckley. Art design’s vibrant for the pageant scenes. 7/10 #MisbehaviourMovie

Today’s Relaxed Screening was ‘A Pale View of Hills’. This melancholy adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s debut novel has some beautiful cinematography that sets the mood for its time periods. Suzu Hirose and Camilla Aiko give fantastic performances. 6/10 #APaleViewOfHills

Project Hail Mary: Reluctant astronaut Ryan Gosling must save the sun in @philiplord and Miller’s powerful, suspenseful sci-fi film with stunning visuals, impactful sound and effects. Gosling does a vulnerable, sometimes comedic performance in the lead role. 9/10 #ProjectHailMary

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man: Cillian Murphy returns in a mesmerising turn as Tommy Shelby in this big-screen conclusion that is entertaining, even if looked at as a stand-alone film. Supporting cast: also very good, including Barry Keoghan. 7/10 #PeakyBlindersTheImmortalMan
