We are advancing a range of measures to assist with the energy situation, which will be targeted and temporary. I particularly welcome the focus on the fuel allowance will benefit up to half a million people, including those on the working family payment.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Lyster. A proud Galway man, Michael was a giant of sports broadcasting in Ireland and was synonymous with RTÉ’s coverage of Gaelic games.

Credit where it's due: Any leader having to endure a meeting with the current US President in front of cameras needs nerves of steel and the wisdom of Solomon. Taoiseach did very well today. He was respectful but didn't grovel and challenged on some things without starting a row.

17 March 1966. Arkle, ridden by Pat Taaffe, won the Cheltenham Gold Cup for the 3rd time in succession at odds of 1-10. Arkle won by 30 lengths. Arkle is regarded as one of the greatest jump horses being unbeatable at level weights.

Taoiseach of Ireland to Trump: "The US is the largest economy in the world. Ireland is small. We need free and fair trade to make our way in the world, and we'd like to see as few tariffs get in the way of that as possible"

Congrats to Col Mhuire Mullingar, who outlasted Tralee CBS by a point to claim exciting Hogan Cup final, 3-11 to 1-16. Untidy display from the Green it has to be said, despite big individual displays. Poor defending in first half, too many sloppy (basic) errors on ball in the second half. Way too many.

3-6 to 0-9, an impressive Colaiste Mhuire Mullingar lead Tralee CBS at HT in Hogan Cup final at Croke Park. Both attacks on top but a defensive disaster for The Green, committing all the basics of poor back play - being stepped, not tracking runners, diving in. Very poor, and after great recovery concede another avoidable goal just before break...

Great stuff from Padraic Joyce. Hard to beat common sense. Players from outside the 26 were released to play for their clubs this weekend. "Sometimes lads come into panels, if they are not allowed to play, they end up not playing a game for months. I'd be totally against that”
