Baylor -4 (-110) 2U 🐻

Baylor’s Season Is On The Line
Baylor enters the tournament 16–15 overall and just 6–12 in Big 12 play, leaving them firmly outside the NCAA Tournament field heading into March.
Because of that mediocre conference record and a weak résumé against top competition (3–12 vs Quad-1 teams), the Bears essentially have no realistic at-large path to March Madness.
That means the mission is simple:
Win the Big 12 Tournament or the season is over.
The Big 12 champion receives the conference’s automatic NCAA Tournament bid, so Baylor must string together multiple wins in Kansas City to extend its season.
This creates a desperation factor that few teams in the bracket share. Baylor is effectively playing elimination basketball from the first tip.
Baylor Entering With Momentum
While the overall résumé is shaky, Baylor has been playing better basketball late in the season.
•Finished the regular season with a 101–75 blowout win over Utah.
•Won 3 of their last 5 games to close the year.
•Already beat Arizona State 73–68 earlier this season.
Offensively, Baylor can be dangerous when its guards are creating off the dribble and spacing the floor. When they get multiple scorers going, they can overwhelm defenses that struggle to contain penetration.
Arizona State’s Opportunity
Arizona State enters at 16–15 overall and 7–11 in conference play, earning the No. 12 seed in the tournament.
Unlike Baylor, the Sun Devils are not realistically playing for an NCAA berth — they’re playing spoiler. That can sometimes make them dangerous, especially in tournament settings where pressure shifts entirely to the opponent.
However, consistency has been an issue. Arizona State recently collapsed in a 86–65 loss to Iowa State, where they endured a massive second-half scoring drought.
If that same offensive stagnation appears, Baylor has the scoring ability to pull away.
Key Matchup Angle
The key to the game will likely be tempo and shot creation:
•Baylor advantage: offensive firepower and playmakers
•Arizona State advantage: ability to make the game ugly defensively
If Baylor controls pace and gets quality perimeter looks, they should have the edge.
Betting Outlook
Early betting markets list Baylor as a small favorite (around -3.5 to -4.5) with a projected total in the mid-150s.
Given the situation:
•Baylor has more urgency
•Baylor has already beaten ASU
•Baylor enters in better recent form
Prediction
Expect Baylor to play with maximum urgency, knowing their tournament hopes hinge on this run.
Projected Score:
Baylor 79
Arizona State 74
