THE BORING COMPANY JUST STARTED TUNNELING UNDER NASHVILLE – AND THIS IS WHY IT’S A BIG DEAL The Boring Company announced that tunneling has officially begun on the Music City Loop in Nashville, Tennessee — the first major Boring project outside of Texas and Nevada. This is not just another tunnel. It’s the start of a privately funded high-speed underground transit system that could completely change how cities solve congestion without spending decades and tens of billions on traditional subways. Why this matters more than most people realize: • Cost & speed revolution
Traditional subways cost $500M–$2B per mile and take 10–20+ years. The Boring Company’s target is ~$50M per mile and construction measured in years, not decades. Nashville is one of the first real-world tests at city scale. • 8-minute airport-to-downtown
The planned route connects the Capitol, Convention Center, Broadway (tourist core), and Nashville International Airport in roughly 8 minutes — faster than driving even without traffic. No surface disruption, no eminent domain fights, minimal noise. • Proof of concept for dozens of cities
If Nashville works (first segment targeted for late 2026), it becomes the blueprint for Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Dubai, and many others already in discussions. Vegas Loop already carries millions of passengers; this is the next level. • Scalable model for urban future
Electric, autonomous Tesla vehicles in tunnels at up to 150 mph goal. Zero emissions, weather-proof, accident-proof, and silent. Cities can add stations incrementally without shutting down streets for years. • Broader vision
Underground networks free up surface land for parks, housing, bike lanes. They make cities more livable, reduce traffic deaths, and enable denser, more efficient urban growth — all while being cheaper and faster to build. This is not hype — it’s happening. Tunneling started this week. Prufrock machines are in the ground. Nashville is the next domino after Vegas and Giga Texas. The future of city transportation isn’t wider highways or more light rail. It’s underground, electric, and fast — and The Boring Company is proving it can be done.

Again, I’m not seeking an argument. This isn’t emotion. Just facts. If Vegas Loop already transports 30k/day, why definition is WeGo with ~25k/day? We’ve been given an another option to Choose How We Move. Many are thankful that we’ll be one of the most advanced cities for transit in the world. What’s controversial about this?
TRUTH🕊️@HonestHalo

@boringcompany @conexpoconagg @lvcc 82k passengers moved at #conexpo While everyone else is stuck in 20th century traffic, Vegas is literally living in the future. The Loop is proving that scalability doesn't have to be expensive or slow. Vegas is literally living in the future with 100% Tesla fleet

We can dig into the numbers. The good thing is, this is a new transit option for with no subsidies. Transit shouldn’t be partisan. Privately funded systems and publicly subsidized systems can compliment each other and give people more choice. This is an additional option for all.

Thanks, @elonmusk, for giving this gift to @MetroNashville and @Fly_Nashville and for working with TN instead of some council members who put politics and party ahead of interests of the city and our fantastic visitors. The buses are empty and we subsidize them heavily with our $$$ but you’re giving us a service that people want and will use even with no subsidies.

Wow. Some power. A non-binding resolution in attempt to stick your finger in the dam against popular mobility solutions that don't involve public officials telling you where to go and what to do. @elonmusk is a bit of a nut. We got it. But why does that very obvious fact mean the rest of us suffer for your lack of compartmentalization? @GovBillLee Can we hand in our charter?

Here’s how Nashville’s metro council voted on the non-binding resolution opposing Musk’s teslas only tunnel nobody wanted 👇🏽

@EPzinger Yes get it to the curb and there will special pickups shortly after they are done with getting power back on for everyone. Try not to block stormwater, sidewalks, etc because we don't know exactly when the pickups will be.

ICE are NOT nazis! They are simply sub-mental criminals deputized by the federal government into racial purification death squads and freed from any constitutional or legal constraint. Let's turn the temp down and open our hearts.
Batya Ungar-Sargon@bungarsargon

Calling ICE Nazis and calling protestors terrorists are both evil lies. We need to find our way back to the middle as Americans at this difficult time, take down the temperature, and open our hearts to the truth, which is somewhere between the Left and Right narratives.

He never brandished his gun he was legally permitted to carry. He was holding his phone. An officer beat him, disarmed him, and he was executed. Alex touched many lives, including mine, as I sang in the Green Bay Boy Choir with him for years. Alex Pretti was murdered today.
