The replacement stone plinths have to be lifted up on a special hoist as the contractors continue to rebuild the Lightcliffe tower cupola.

And what a wonderful job Friends of St Matthew’s Churchyard do looking after everything!

On 3 March 1854 #AnnWalker was buried in a vault in the old now demolished St. Matthew's Church. In the 1860s a pulpit was put over the Walker vault (and the brass plaque placed in a nearby window recess.) This 2024 ledger stone now marks the spot.

Today marks the 172nd anniversary of Ann Walker's death (25 February 1854). We celebrate this extraordinary woman who, against societal norms, found the courage to live with the woman she loved. For more information on Ann Walker, see insearchofanwalker.com
