Pilots are required to log a minimum number of flight hours annually to stay qualified, regardless of the mission. Routing a training sortie over a stadium, parade, or event (like the Super Bowl or July 4th) doesn’t require extra flights, fuel beyond the budgeted amount, or additional maintenance.
