It’s funny how Lions fans mocked people who begged Brad Holmes to go all-in for 2023-2024. “You can’t trade a 1st round pick for Danielle Hunter!” “Our window is 8 years, not 2!” “Let Brad cook!!!” Meanwhile, in 2021, the Rams: -said “F-them draft picks” -signed Jalen Ramsey to the biggest contract for a defensive back in history -signed Odell Brettham Jr. -traded for Von Miller -won the Super Bowl The Rams had been 43-21 under Sean McVay, and had already made a Super Bowl. They didn’t obsess over maintaining that success. They wanted to finish the job. They went all-in, and got their title. Did their massive spending and unloading of draft capital cripple the franchise? Nope. They had one bad year, with Stafford out half the season. Then won 10+ games in all 3 seasons since. They are currently heavy favorites to win the Super Bowl…again. At least we didn’t trade that precious draft pick to acquire a Top-10 all-time pass rusher in his prime. The Lions didn’t need Danielle Hunter that day in Santa Clara, on the doorstep of a Super Bowl. Drafting Terrion Arnold (one of the worst-graded CBs in history) a few months after the collapse was more important.
