Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO)
As the world watches the Strait of Hormuz, the Islamic Republic is intensifying repression inside Iran. As IHRNGO Director @iranhr Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam told Channel 4: by executing protesters, the authorities are sending a direct warning to society, “this is what happens if you stand against us.” Their real existential fear is the Iranian people. Since mid-March, at least 22 political prisoners have been executed, around half linked to January’s protests , and hundreds more may face death penalty charges. An important Channel 4 report by @SecKermani : channel4.com/news/inside-ir… #NoDeathPenalty #IranHumanRights

Here’s our piece from Nabatieh in Southern Lebanon just hours before the ceasefire came into place. We were covering the funeral of one of four paramedics targeted and killed by an Israeli triple-tap strike the day before. At the nearby hospital where we were about to interview the head of the paramedic charity, who himself had lost his young son just three weeks before to an airstrike, we found ourselves pinned down as jets attacked targets around us. Extraordinarily, despite having just attended the funerals of their colleagues, the medics calmly put on their protective equipment and started to respond. #nabatieh #lebanon #c4news

Israel has destroyed bridges across southern Lebanon, increasingly cutting it off from the rest of the country Our report from the heavily bombed city of Tyre ⬇️ Features a wonderful exchange w/ a woman named Madonna who refuses to leave despite Israeli evacuation orders (Broadcast last week but forgot to share here) With @EP_Lawrence @Stanleigh77

"Bury me along with your two eyes, my love" Our report on some of the latest devastating Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon - and the children being killed Many of the tactics, look to be a repeat of the awful patterns seen in Gaza, just today: Israel has killed 5 paramedics in a single attack (more in others) and 3 Lebanese journalists With @EP_Lawrence

Our report from the funeral of two young paramedics killed in an Israeli strike in the city of Nabatieh, southern Lebanon The targeting of first responders by Israel is a pattern we’ve seen in Gaza, in Lebanon in 2024 and now we’re seeing here again The Israeli army did not respond to our questions about the strike

Awful, heartbreaking, unacceptable We’ve just been at the funeral of two young volunteer paramedics in southern Lebanon - killed in a direct Israeli strike… one was only 16 years old They were killed whilst wearing their full kit according to witnesses - returning from the scene of an earlier strike The deliberate targeting of healthcare workers is a war crime but Israel has killed dozens here in recent weeks (and many more in 2024 and in Gaza)

Our report from the Beqaa Valley amidst the war between Israel & Hezbollah Around 1,100 people have been killed in Lebanon & one million displaced When Hezbollah first fired on Israel earlier this month, some supporters seemed critical of the move, knowing the destruction Israel would unleash Now though, Hezbollah’s base looks to be rallying around the flag @EP_Lawrence @Stanleigh77

"They came to kill us" Horrific POV footage of a brutal attack by settlers on unarmed Israeli activists - who were helping protect a Palestinian village One woman, in her 70s, had her skull fractured Settler violence - already high in the Occupied West Bank - is growing even worse, with 5 Palestinians killed in the past fortnight Meanwhile the Israeli govt is introducing new measures making it easier for settlers to buy land in the West Bank - and for the state to demolish more Palestinian homes And the army has introduced new restrictions on movement in the territory since the war with Iran began Watch our full report here: @EP_Lawrence

A resident of #Tehran #Iran told me yesterday: "People are divided into two groups. One group of people think that when the war ends, good things will happen. They think Pahlavi will take power, sanctions will be lifted, and our relations with the world will be good. That we will build a country." "But the other group think that many cities have been destroyed, many people have died, and another man has become supreme leader who is not much different from his father. Those people think that nothing good will happen when this war ends, and that there is risk of civil war and disintegration. Even if these two things don’t happen, they think that the country will become more like a dictatorship. The economy will get worse and the destroyed infrastructure will not be repaired. I am in the second group."
