HOW ESKOM WILL SPEND R343BN Eskom has announced a R343-billion capital investment plan over the next five years, aimed at modernising South Africa’s energy grid and strengthening long-term stability. The bulk of the funding will be directed towards key priorities, including R167-billion for financial and operational stability, R138-billion for upgrading the power ecosystem, and R24-billion to support the transition away from coal. The utility’s financial outlook is improving, with profit before tax projected to reach R30-billion in 2027 and grow to R51-billion by 2031. Eskom also confirmed that it does not plan to raise new capital in the 2027 financial year.
