all CEOs should be focused on product first ... and spend at least 50% of their time on the product. any company that hires a CEO that is not product-first will fail. if you are running a car company, your main focus should be able building better cars. if you are running a software company, it needs to be able making better software. if a coffee shop chain, it needs to be about creating a better product for your customers. if you are running an investment bank, the leader needs to be one that helps make that product better. sales, finance, etc are important -- but the CEO always needs to be product first and spending at least 50% of their time on the product.
