The idea is to move beyond wallets and enable a complete checkout system on-device — where a mobile device can handle product scanning, cart creation, payments, and receipt generation, all in a single flow. On the merchant side, this involves building an on-chain shopping cart model, where items are scanned via barcode lookup APIs or AI-based label recognition (on-device LLM or external models), then aggregated into an order that can be paid using Solana wallets. The system also needs to handle partial payments, external wallet flows, and validation layers for real-world usability. Another interesting part is structuring order and receipt data, with the option to sync or persist records using decentralized storage like Arweave, creating a verifiable transaction and history layer beyond just payment confirmation. The challenge is balancing on-device intelligence (LLMs, offline flows) with on-chain interactions, while keeping the UX simple enough for real merchants. Overall, it’s about rethinking how a Solana Mobile device can act as a lightweight, crypto-native POS terminal — combining payments, product intelligence, and order management in one system.
