A serious road traffic collision has been reported on the A19 in Riccall. 📷📷 The road is currently closed to traffic in both directions. Police have advised motorists travelling between York and Selby to find an alternative route.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill in Tadcaster. Armed officers were deployed to aid the arrest at 2:30pm near Wighill Lane yesterday. A vehicle was also seized for forensic analysis. We have contacted North Yorkshire Police for further updates.

Yorkshire Water has informed the Selby Times that the blockage, which caused Selby Abbey CofE Primary School to close today, has been "investigated and dealt with". A contractor has been on site this morning, and the school said it will now complete a deep clean.
