I thought Trump made animal cruelty a federal crime with the 2019 PACT Act and honestly, we all did. It was sold as a big win, but here’s what they don’t tell us: The PACT Act only applies in very narrow cases; if it happens on federal property or involves interstate commerce (like making crush videos for sale). This savage did it in his own home in New Jersey. No federal land, no interstate commerce, so the feds shrugged and handed it back to New Jersey’s weak, outdated laws. That’s why people are pissed. We were led to believe “animal cruelty is now a federal felony across the board,” but for most local cases like this, it’s still mostly bullshit.
