Good News Alert: An exciting morning as the Hon. Katrine Conroy announced a new urgent and primary care centre will be opening in Castlegar. It will be accessible 8am-8pm, 365 days a year, helping to serve the health needs of local residents through quality team-based care.

We have definitely found that our students enthusiasm for a future in rural health increases the more they learn about the challenges facing rural communities as well as the exciting career opportunities available in rural settings.

A great big thank you to Dr. Julie Nicol for her talk last night at the Mir Centre. She helped to paint an in depth picture of the personal and professional character of careers in rural family med, other rural general specialities, and in demand rural allied health professions.

Many thanks to all of the community members who helped make possible our practice Multiple Mini Interview event today. The students very much appreciated the chance to sharpen their interviewing skills.

A special thank you to Suzanne Lehbauer and the Castlegar Hospice Society for providing such in-depth information and soft-skill training over the past two weekends. What an amazing learning opportunity for our students!

A great visit back to the East Kootenays, wrapping up a 6 week period in which RPM met with and presented to ~750 students from 18 different rural communities. We met many young learners eager to enter onto a pathway towards a future career in rural health care. #ruralhealth
