Well, Ruger saved me from a trip to the hospital—maybe even saved my life. He has never bitten me except during play, but today, while we were walking around the lake like we always do, he suddenly became very aggressive. He started nipping at me, then grabbed my leg, and his dew claws dug in pretty hard. I turned around to scold him, but instead of stopping, he ran around me as if he was trying to keep me away from something. When I reached to grab him, I realized he had a copperhead snake cornered against a log. He kept trying to kill it until I found a stick and finished it off. I honestly almost cried, knowing he was willing to risk his own life to protect me. I sat down, held him close, and just thanked him. This dog is truly my guardian.
