I’m proud to run on and stand by my record serving the people of the 46th Legislative District ahead of the June 2026 Primary Election. Together, we’ve protected Marylanders’ civil and reproductive rights, made historic investments in our schools and the families they serve, passed one of the most aggressive climate policies in the country, and reformed policing while reducing crime by unprecedented levels. Building on that progress in the years ahead requires steadfast leadership, and I hope to count on each and every one of you in that work.

No one in Highlandtown asked for a war in the Middle East. No one in Federal Hill voted to pay more at the pump. But that's exactly what Trump's decisions are costing Maryland families — every gallon, every grocery run, every utility bill. We won't stop fighting until the families paying the price get relief.

Honored to have earned the endorsement of the Maryland and DC AFL-CIO. This session, we protected workers from being forced into employer-sponsored political meetings, strengthened overtime protections for firefighters, and increased penalties for child labor violations. I stand with organized labor. Proud to keep earning this trust.

Happy National Principals’ Day! Today marks an important opportunity to recognize the school leaders who guide our students with purpose and care, both across Maryland and throughout the nation. Every day, principals show up ready to lead, standing with their teachers and meeting challenges head-on while building school environments where students can learn and feel secure. Their impact reaches every classroom and strengthens the future of our State. To our Maryland principals, thank you for all that you do.

Trump and Washington Republicans cut health care. We expanded it. They gutted housing assistance. We're protecting it. They went after public schools. We're investing in ours. While they break things, we fix them.

When the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed, longshoremen were among the first to feel it — jobs, livelihoods, a port that Baltimore depends on. We passed the PORT Act in the final days of session to make sure workers and families were protected while the Port recovered. The International Longshoremen's Association represents the people who rebuilt that port. Their endorsement means we got it right. Proud to have Local 333 and Local 953 with us.

Today, the Supreme Court of the United States gutted the most consequential voting rights protections of our generation without saying so. This decision is a tragic step backward and reflective of ongoing judicial extremism. While we wait for Maryland’s Attorney General to review the decision and explain how it affects our State and Nation, we know that there are now even more significant risks of catastrophic effects on minority representation. We sadly anticipated this Supreme Court action, and that's why the Senate of Maryland moved expeditiously to pass the Maryland Voting Rights Act of 2026 in February.   Fortunately, just yesterday, I joined the Speaker and Governor to sign the bill into law. This state-level Voting Rights Act will fill many of the newly created gaps at the local and municipal level to protect voting rights in Maryland despite the Supreme Court's ruling. As the federal government continues to wreak havoc on democracy and civil liberties, the Senate Democratic Caucus and I will continue to evaluate all methods of fighting back against the lawless Trump Administration.

Every Maryland police officer wears a badge with a name and number. That's how accountability works. Masked federal agents are grabbing people off the street with: No badge. No name. No warrant. That's not law enforcement. That's intimidation. We're putting a stop to it.

A lot of yard signs went up across the 46th District this weekend. Always appreciate the neighbors who reach out and step up to show support. If you’d like a sign, you can request it here: forms.gle/VgHPfhX1RjebUe…

Since you first elected me, I’ve been fighting for the 46th District and Baltimore’s values in Annapolis. I've prioritized identifying and solving problems to make life better for you and your family. That fight continues.

A full day in Southeast Baltimore, out on doors and talking with neighbors. Sharing what we got done in Annapolis and listening to what’s on people’s minds. There’s a lot of both. And of course, it’s always great to see City Springs Principal Rhonda Richetta. Grateful for the volunteers who joined @ElectEdelson and me today.

Jim's story is too common. A caregiver struggling to deal with the broken healthcare system and get the help they need for someone they love. I'm so proud of our team and how they can help. Please reach out billformd.com/constituent-se…

Maryland will not be a place where fear rules. This Session, we passed the Community Trust Act, limited ICE detention facilities from expanding in our State, and protected hospitals, schools, and courthouses as safe spaces. No matter where you were born, you are part of this community and we will defend your constitutional rights.

Session’s over. Time to get back to something I love — knocking on doors and hearing directly from the people I represent. Including, apparently, Caleb’s and Cora’s old babysitter. We got a lot done in Annapolis this year: cutting energy bills, protecting immigrant neighbors, investing in our schools. Now, it’s great to be home and talk about it.

The Senate of Maryland worked tirelessly this Session, and the results speak for themselves. We lowered costs, strengthened voting rights, and delivered real progress for Maryland families.

An apology is fine for personal redemption. It's not sufficient professionally under the circumstances. For an office built on impartiality, the choice to publicly post insulting and offensive content to attack a sitting Mayor undermines public trust and the work of an oversight office overall. This whole episode is exactly why a thoughtful, purposeful framework for accessing data in the public sector is so important. Too often personal vendettas cause people to make bad choices, and good public policy requires systems to be in place to limit the potential damage that can result.

I ran for office after serving as a Baltimore City Public Schools teacher because every child in Maryland deserves a world-class education regardless of their zip code. This Session we invested $10.1 billion in public education, worked to reduce class sizes, expanded dual enrollment opportunities, and passed the Phone-Free Schools Act to help kids focus and learn. Baltimore’s kids are our future, and under my leadership in the Senate, we are investing like it.

It’s not just that Trump drove up prices at the pump for a war of choice – it’s that he pretends squeezing Maryland families is no big deal. For too many Baltimoreans, it’s the difference between getting to work, making rent, or cutting back somewhere else. The Maryland Senate doesn’t brush off rising prices, we fought to bring costs down in the 2026 Legislative Session.

Big corporations should not be allowed to use your personal data against you to charge you more than your neighbor for the exact same item. The Protection from Predatory Pricing Act passed in the 2026 Legislative Session bans surveillance-based pricing and requires prices to stay fixed for at least one business day. No more surge pricing. No more being watched and charged for it.
