Nicole and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Jeanie Hammond, the wife of former Hamilton County Sheriff, Jim Hammond. Our hearts hurt for the Hammond family, and we will have them in our prayers during this difficult time. @hcgoptn

Last Saturday, I attended the 2026 Lincoln Day Dinner hosted by the Hamilton County Republican Party. It was a great evening spent connecting with colleagues, constituents, and candidates committed to strengthening Tennessee’s future, and I was honored to sit with Congressman Fleischmann and Senator Blackburn. The event was a huge success, with the Hamilton County Republican Party raising a record-breaking amount of money.

I recently published an op-ed in the Chattanooga Times Free Press on my Better Schools, Better Spending legislation that I sponsored this year. This legislation was designed to ensure that school districts across Tennessee report their budgets and revenues in a consistent, transparent manner. By creating a standardized reporting system, parents, teachers, administrators, and legislators can more easily understand how education dollars are being spent and help ensure that funding is reaching students directly. On Tuesday, I got to visit the Chattanooga Zoo and celebrate the $5 million that I put into the Tennessee state budget for a new on-site veterinary hospital with significantly more space and updated technology. The Chattanooga Zoo is a hidden gem amongst the county, and I’m proud to bring them the funds they need to help care for the hundreds of animals in their facility. Thank you to the Zoo and my friend George the Giraffe for having me!
