It has become an instrument of one man’s will. During Todd Blanche’s confirmation hearing, I pressed him on his repeated lies. He claimed—multiple times—that the law barred him from meeting with Epstein victims. Yet he had no problem sitting down with Ghislaine Maxwell. He showed far greater concern for her safety than for the survivors themselves. It’s clear where his loyalties lie: he cares more about being Donald Trump’s personal lawyer than serving as Attorney General for 340 million Americans.

Todd Blanche failed his performance review, and he should not be confirmed as Attorney General.

The killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo shakes me to my core. A husband. A father. A hardworking man who woke up every day striving to provide for the people he loved. This family should be together. Instead, they are grieving an unimaginable loss. The American people, and Lorenzo’s family, deserve facts they can trust. That is why there must be a truly independent investigation, free from political influence. Under Kash Patel, the FBI has lost the confidence of too many Americans to credibly investigate an incident involving another federal law enforcement agency on its own. For months I have warned that this ICE agency has become increasingly reckless, chaotic, and unaccountable. It continues to operate with unprecedented levels of taxpayer funding, untethered from our nation’s highest ideals, and with tragically little oversight. No agency entrusted with the power to detain, deport, or use deadly force can be permitted to operate without meaningful oversight and real accountability. Our nation must never accept a standard where those entrusted with the greatest power face the least accountability.

I won’t stop fighting for New Jersey families still recovering from this year’s storms. Today’s denial of federal disaster assistance leaves communities that suffered significant damage without the support they urgently need. New Jerseyans contribute significantly to federal emergencies when other regions of the country are in need. In just one year since the “One Big Beautiful Bill” was made into law, millions lack affordable health insurance, families are struggling to make ends meet, all while corruption runs rampant, the wealth gap expands, and corporate profits are larger than ever. I’m fighting every day to lower costs and ensure every American has access to the healthcare they need.

Today the Supreme Court rejected Trump's unconstitutional order, and millions of families can breathe easier. But it never should have come this close. Whether the Constitution protects every child born on our soil came down to a single vote. That's the terrifying signal: not that we lost, but that we almost did. So our relief is real, and so is our resolve to keep fighting against xenophobia and bigotry.

The language is clear, and the Court rightly affirmed it so: every child born on American soil is guaranteed citizenship.

The American people have made clear they want big money out of politics, but the Supreme Court just took a hammer to what few guardrails remain. Corruption must end in both politics and our courts.
