Taking away critical assistance from financially struggling families simply does not get students to attend school & only makes things worse, which is why I was proud to champion a repeal of Learnfare in the legislature that @MassGovernor signed into law earlier this month. (4/5)

Learnfare was an outdated state policy from 1995 that stripped low-income families of some of their state financial assistance if a student had too many unexcused absences from school. (1/5)

Yesterday, our wonderful summer interns visited the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate along with other State House interns to roleplay as senators in a simulated U.S. Senate session where they debated, amended, and voted on mock legislation. @EMKInstitute

To protect personal data, the bill requires companies to offer multiple ways for people to verify their age so that users can remain anonymous. Adults would also not be required to verify their age and could instead use the default youth settings if preferred. (4/5)

Social media companies employ meticulously crafted algorithms to track everything we do to suck us in and get us addicted. They put profit over health at the expense of our children, but the MA Senate is taking action to protect youth through new social media regulations. (1/5)
