From grain and fertilizer to feed and lumber, rail is the backbone of rural America. When there’s a rail monopoly, our farmers and small towns become captive customers. I signed the GOP leaders’ letter to the STB because this mega merger is bad news for the Heartland and will radiate out the pain to Montana Ag producers.

The Montana Supreme Court has turned the courtroom into a legislative policy committee, drastically overstepping its constitutional boundaries into the Legislature’s role and violating the separation of powers. Montanans will continue to suffer decades of economic and social harm if we don’t turn our activist and overreaching courts around.

The Montana Supreme Court overstepped its constitutional boundaries today in its ruling on the Held v. Montana case. Judicial reform was already a top priority for Republican lawmakers in our legislative session that starts in less than three weeks. After today, our message to the judiciary is simply this: buckle up.

Such partisan, hateful and uncompassionate views from a former Montana judge indicate a deep and consuming bias that permeates the minutest aspects of one’s life. The reality is that Nelson was not an impartial judge.

@karinkirk_mt Yes, but you do need to be a qualified elector to sign a petition. According to SB 498, sponsored by Morigeau D-Missoula and signed by the Gov, a qualified elector is someone who follows MCA 13-2-222 to be registered.
