It is with a heavy heart that after nearly three decades in the State Senate I am deciding not to seek reelection to an institution that I deeply admire and respect. Please see my full statement below.

I am repulsed and saddened by the violent events that took place at the State House last night. For the second campaign in a row @JenRourke29 has been subject to abuse - this time physical. Violence of any kind has no place in our democracy.

@KendraForRI included in the proposal presented to the Legislature in January, or in the budget the House sent to the Senate last week. We plan to address this issue in the 2023 session. (2/2)

@KendraForRI In anticipation of a decision like today’s Supreme Court ruling the Senate acted in 2019 to codify Roe v Wade into state law. As a result no Rhode Islander is losing rights today. The EACA has financial implications and should be considered as part of the budget but was not (1/2)
