As costs rise for special education, transportation, and educator salaries, the Senate’s budget will begin the process of reexamining the formulas we use to allocate Chapter 70 resources across school districts in a way that better reflects the unique needs of our communities.

While the Senate's FY27 budget debate may be over, I still have some good news on Chapter 70 funding: the bill we passed reconvenes the Foundation Budget Review Commission, tasked to reevaluate the way the Massachusetts State Government funds local public school districts.

Yesterday was Military Appreciation Day at the State House, and I was thrilled to nominate Millbury's Bob Roy to be honored during the ceremony! Bob is a Veteran and a longtime volunteer for Veterans organizations including the VFW & the Millbury Veterans Advisory Board.

- The Town of Auburn is set to receive $55,000 to purchase a 3D laser scanner for its Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit. I am so thrilled to get these amendments done to support my district. Stay tuned for more information on the budget!

- Westborough Public Schools is set to receive $60,000 to purchase cell phone lock boxes. - Auburn Youth and Family Services is set to receive $20,000 to support its community food bank. - Worcester Police Department is set to receive $75,000 to purchase a K9 cruiser.

Day 3 of the Senate's FY27 budget debate is over, and my final five amendments were approved by my colleagues! They include: - Veterans Inc. is set to receive $500,000 to support its employment training and substance use treatment programs. More below...

- New Americans Community Development Corporation is set to receive $20,000 to support the development of affordable housing in Central Massachusetts. There's plenty more to come over the next couple of days – I'll keep you posted!

- Department of Fish and Game may have its budget restored to its FY26 level, reversing a nearly $400,000 cut. - Latin American Health Alliance is set to receive $25,000 to support its substance use recovery programs.

I joined the Massachusetts Ambulance Association this morning to thank our EMS professionals for all that they do and to celebrate some extraordinary stories of heroism right here in the Commonwealth. I'm proud to stand in strong support for Massachusetts EMS.

So thrilled to welcome the Millbury High School Band to the State House today! Rep Paul Frost and I were there to hear a sample of what they've been practicing, celebrate their hard work, and rally in support of our arts and music programs.

AI holds incredible opportunity for advancing education, but – just as with everything else – we must be careful that it does not cause more harm than good. Smart, targeted regulation will be critical to ensuring AI is developed and used responsibly in schools and beyond.

I participated in the AIxEd Fireside Chat, hosted by Northeastern & Shauna Conway. We discussed the future of education, how we can harness artificial intelligence to help students learn, and what we should watch out for as this technology gets further adopted in the classroom.

Auburn High School's annual State House visit was today, and it was so much fun getting to meet with so many future leaders! These students had the opportunity to tour this historic building and I got to share with them how bills become laws in the place where it happens.
