Another Labor Lie.

Labor has delivered the housing trifecta of failure: fewer homes, higher rents & market confidence smashed.

Prime Minister Albanese has betrayed Australian women and girls. Tonight, I introduced the Coalition's Bill to restore common sense to the Sex Discrimination Act by defining sex as biological. Labor and the Greens killed it before it could even be debated. Our Bill would protect the rights of women and girls in single sex spaces - for example - in toilets, change rooms, domestic violence shelters and sporting facilities. That isn't radical. It isn’t controversial. It's common sense. Instead of standing with Australian women and girls, Anthony Albanese chose political ideology over their privacy, dignity and safety. He wouldn't even allow the Parliament to debate my Bill. That is a disgrace. But I have a message for the thousands and thousands of Australians who have backed me in introducing this Bill. The Coalition will not back down. We will keep fighting in the Parliament, and if Labor continues to betray Australian women and girls - we will take this fight to the next election.

Albanese Labor has managed the trifecta of housing policy failure: they've hurt first-home buyers, they've hurt renters and they've undermined confidence in Australia's housing market.

Actions speak louder than words. It does not matter what the Greens say - they voted with Labor and implemented a widows tax.

When ministers ask Parliament to pass major legislation, they have an obligation to know it, explain it and provide the Senate with the information needed to properly scrutinise it. On Labor's tax legislation, those standards were abandoned.

Australia voted no - resoundingly.

Today @DuniamJonathon has announced that he will retire from the Senate by the end of this year, bringing to a close a decade of distinguished service to Tasmania and to our nation. Jonno has been a principled and steadfast voice for his state and our nation. Whether as a minister, as a shadow minister or in the many roles he has carried in this place, he has served with conviction, with diligence and with an unwavering commitment to the people who entrusted him with their representation. He will leave the Senate having earned the respect of colleagues on all sides, a rare and telling mark of the man. I have had the privilege of not only working alongside Jonno but of calling him a dear friend. He is a man of warmth, decency and great character. Tasmania has been the better for his service, as has our party and our parliament. I thank him for his contribution and wish him and his family every good thing in the years ahead.
