Today the Senate passed Senate Bill 146 which prohibits violent criminals from changing their names to avoid being recognized

Extending postpartum coverage to 12 months will ensure new mothers can keep their doctors, avoid costly emergency room visits, and reduce preventable maternal death. Thanks to @SenJesseJames for his work on this important bill.

This morning, I participated in the @WisCounties legislative leadership panel. We discussed legislative priorities, including using the state surplus to provide tax relief for hardworking families.

Governor Evers spent this evening touting the legislature's tax cuts while he remains the only roadblock to meaningful tax reform in Wisconsin. @GovEvers hiked taxes on food stamp recipients so he could spend their money on a wish list of liberal policy initiatives. Wisconsin voters rejected his tax and spend agenda in November and @WisSenGOP will reject it this session.

(3/4) Think about everything you need an ID to do. You can’t rent an apartment, get married, open a bank account, or even adopt a pet from the humane society without a photo ID.

(2/4) One of @WisSenGOP’s top priorities in recent sessions is making sure that it is easy to vote and hard to cheat. Putting Voter ID requirements in state law was a major first step. Now we are giving voters the chance to protect Voter ID by enshrining it in the constitution.

The budget should be a budget, not a policy document. Instead of proposing a laundry list of policy items, @GovEvers should be focusing his effort on using the state surplus to address rising costs.

Tax cuts benefit everyone, especially the middle class. 15th lowest in the country is great, but we can do better. Let's continue this positive trend by using the surplus to further reduce the tax burden on Wisconsin families.

Between 2000 and 2022, Wisconsinites benefitted from the largest decrease in tax burden in the country. The sky didn't fall. Revenues continue to climb, the state has a $4 billion surplus, and schools and local governments just got the largest increase in state support ever.
