Human trafficking is one of the most horrible crimes imaginable. Today, we work to raise awareness of these offenses, offer our love and support for victims, and resolve ourselves to continue the fight to end this practice of modern-day slavery.

The House and the Governor choosing to play games on second-degree murder sentencing is disrespectful to law enforcement who build these cases, prosecutors who hold criminals accountable, and most of all, the families of victims who must relive these crimes all over again.

America250PA recently coordinated its largest annual volunteer effort with support from volunteers across the Commonwealth. Volunteers sorted local donations from 32 skids and moved approximately 10,000 pounds of food and beverages to fight food insecurity in the region.

We accomplished some great things in this budget. We avoided tax increases, continued to reduce taxes to make our state more competitive, and reduced the Governor’s spending demands by $1.1 billion.

As part of this year’s budget negotiations, Senate Republicans fought to keep state agencies from squirreling away taxpayer dollars in department budgets and special funds. Over two years, we’ve repurposed a whopping $4.5 billion from these sources.

This is why the PA House shouldn’t play games on the second-degree murder issue. We’re talking about criminals who killed another person while committing terrible felonies like torture, arson and sexual assault. We need to stand with victims’ families and protect our communities!
