Another budget win: protections connected to my bill S4121 advanced to help keep schools, hospitals, churches, childcare centers, and other sensitive places rooted in safety, not fear. Deep gratitude to the advocates and immigrant communities who moved this work forward.

In the new State Budget, NYC schools will receive an $860M increase, bringing total state aid to nearly $15.3B. This builds on the Foundation Aid victory we fought for in court and strengthens support for students who are homeless, in foster care, or learning English.

Today, the Senate passed my Resolution J.1903 honoring Dorothy “Dot” Reid, a young plaintiff in a case that became Brown v. Board. With her family and @NYSPEF, we celebrated her courage, 28 years of public service, and the promise of equal education.

When a neighbor & street vendor from 207th & Post Ave. in Inwood sends you a video of you helping at @AltagraciaWorks community clean-up, it feels like a blessing. Community is built side by side, block by block, through love for the place we call home. Thank you, Eddy Sencion.

At our State Capitol, I stood with tenants, advocates, and organizers from across New York united by a simple truth: no one should face the loss of their home alone. That is why I introduced S6772, because housing policy must protect people, not displacement. #ActionJackson

Suspension should never be the first doorway through which a child is pushed out of opportunity. As sponsor of the Solutions Not Suspensions Act, I’m fighting to keep every child connected to classrooms, care, dignity, and possibility.

At our State Capitol, I stood with families and advocates to honor incarcerated and formerly incarcerated mothers, mothers with children behind bars, and children carrying the pain of separation. Justice must believe in redemption. Let’s pass these bills and bring families home.
