My friend got married 4 years ago. Every December, she buys 3 bags of rice; one for her mum, one for her mother-in-law, and one for her home. She kept it up for 3 years straight. Then, last December, she stopped. She bought only for her mum. A few days before Christmas, her mother-in-law called her husband; “She didn’t send my rice this year.” The husband asked my friend; “You didn’t buy rice for my mum? Why?” She looked at him and said, “Since we got married, what have you ever done for my own mother? Have you ever bought her Christmas rice or even sent her money?” The man paused… then replied, “But I didn’t ask you to be buying rice for my mum. You did that on your own."

@Elohozynno @NigBarAssoc You comparing a litigant who has business in court by virtue of him being an accused with politicians using a courtroom for political campaign? Isn't it too early to be reasoning like this?

THE COURT SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A STAGE FOR MEDIA BRIEFING Courtrooms in a constitutional democracy are open to the public not as arenas for performance, but as sanctuaries for the orderly administration of justice. Their openness promotes transparency and public confidence, yet it also imposes a duty of restraint on all who enter. Access to the courtroom is therefore a right exercised within boundaries of decorum, discipline, and respect for judicial authority. The courtroom exists solely for adjudication, and its openness cannot be stretched to permit activities unrelated to that purpose. It is against this background that the Nigerian Bar Association views with grave concern the incident involving Mr. Omoyele Sowore @sowore, yesterday March 24th, 2026, at the Federal High Court, Abuja. Mr. Sowore entered the courtroom accompanied by a number of individuals carrying camera phones and recording equipment. He proceeded to set up what appeared to be preparations for a press conference within the courtroom itself. Members of his team attended to him, fanning his face and tidying his appearance in a manner akin to a broadcast setting. He subsequently moved into the inner bar, sat on one of the tables, and, as cameras were directed at him, began addressing what he described as “a range of national issues.” Notably, Mr. Sowore’s case was not listed for hearing, and he was not accompanied by any legal practitioner during this episode. The development led to tension within the courtroom and a confrontation with learned Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Musibau Adetunbi, SAN, who objected to the conduct and insisted on maintaining courtroom decorum. Courtrooms are solemn spaces dedicated to the administration of justice. Any conduct that undermines the dignity of the court, intimidates legal practitioners, or disrupts proceedings constitutes a grave affront to the rule of law. The use of a courtroom as a venue for publicity, advocacy theatrics, or confrontation is unacceptable and inconsistent with the discipline required in judicial proceedings. While every Nigerian, including Mr. Sowore, is entitled to attend and observe court proceedings, such right must be exercised responsibly and with due regard to courtroom decorum. Public access to the courts does not extend to converting the courtroom into a platform for press briefings or actions capable of undermining the dignity and authority of the court, whether or not the court is in session. The NBA therefore condemns Mr. Sowore’s disruption of the courtroom environment and expresses solidarity with Musibau Adetunbi, SAN, and all lawyers who insisted on maintaining decorum. We also call on court authorities to ensure that courtrooms remain protected spaces for the orderly administration of justice and free from acts capable of intimidating legal practitioners in the discharge of their professional duties. The NBA will continue to defend the dignity of the legal profession and the sanctity of judicial proceedings. The courtroom must remain a place of order, respect, disciplined advocacy, and responsible public access, not spectacle, confrontation, or disorder. I’m actually shocked a day Nigerian men would try to decide to take the side of an errant police officer will come. He responded to my question on Ozoro with a sexual remark. Some of you are now citing dictionary entries for “turn on” in an attempt to shut down my voice because I am a woman in this case? He purposely chose the phrase to sexualize me. It’s not the first time he is harassing me on Twitter. There was a discussion of sexual violence and he responded with sexual insinuation. What is the operational need for sexual language in a police response? Why do Nigerians like normalizing misconduct?

@neo_officialll So the ocean was fully cooperative in ancient times, but now that we have 4K cameras, even small floods refuse to behave on command? Interesting how the only thing that disappeared isn’t the sea’s depth… but the expectation that everything must happen on demand for proof.

I don't think some of you truly realize how deep, massive and scary a sea is. There is a reason why certain miracles stopped happening the second the white man invented cameras. I will believe everything else but Moses splitting a sea with his rod certainly did not happen.

SEXUAL ASSAULT ON WOMEN AT OZORO FESTIVAL IS A NATIONAL DISGRACE A society reveals its true character in how it treats its women. Where women are chased, stripped, groped, violated, and publicly humiliated by mobs under the guise of celebration, what is on display is not culture. It is barbarity. It is a collapse of conscience. It is a stain on our shared humanity. The deeply disturbing reports emerging from a recent festival in Ozoro, Delta State are not just troubling, they are horrifying. Women were allegedly accosted in broad daylight, forcefully stripped of their clothing, sexually assaulted, and subjected to degrading treatment by groups of young men while others watched, recorded, and, in some instances, cheered. No woman should ever have to endure such terror, such exposure, such violation of her dignity. This was not a festival. This was lawlessness. This was gender-based violence in its most primitive and shameful form. These acts amount to a grave violation of the fundamental rights to dignity of the human person, personal liberty, and security as guaranteed under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), as well as other international human rights instruments. They also constitute serious criminal offences under our laws, including assault, sexual violence, and public indecency. The NBA condemns these acts in the strongest possible terms. No tradition, no custom, no so-called cultural practice can excuse or legitimise the degradation and violation of women. Any practice that permits such cruelty is not culture. It is criminality. We call on the Delta State Government and all relevant law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and decisively. The perpetrators must be identified, arrested, and prosecuted. Those who aided, enabled, or failed to intervene must also be held accountable. Justice must not be delayed, and it must not be selective. Silence, indifference, or excuses in the face of such brutality only embolden further abuse. We further call on community leaders, traditional institutions, and festival organisers to take urgent responsibility. Cultural celebrations must never become theatres of violence. They must reflect dignity, order, and respect for human life, not chaos and cruelty. The protection of women is not optional. It is a legal duty. It is a moral obligation. It is a test of who we are as a people. Nigeria must not become a place where women live in fear of being stripped of both their clothing and their dignity in public spaces. This must never happen again! Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN President, Nigerian Bar Association Huwaila Muhammad Chairperson, NBA Women Forum

Mr President @officialABAT appointed Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd) to help organise our military into a potent force. A fine General who had just been retired from service. His appointment was celebrated by all and sundry. It looked like a breath of fresh air. What does he do? He is out here wearing GCGM on his cap. The first time I have seen someone decorate a hula so much. He is showing his hands too early and making his ambitions too obvious. I have no issue with any such ambitions. If no one around him will tell him, I will do him the favours. It’s a poor look. Even politicians that didn’t (supposedly) accidentally become one aren’t so blatant and out of touch. And amidst such a security challenge, he carries that GCGM cap and goes to do a handshake with the president in London. Was he also invited by the King of England? A conventional politician being so badly behaved would have been bad enough. A recently retired fine officer politicking harder than politicians is where shock comes to meet disgust. And the rank and file are meant to be motivated and excited by these shenanigans? Let those who have been appointed to work do their job. I hope this won’t earn me a Bwala-esque soft block. This is the business of a country and we must take it seriously. I took up a case privately with a minister yesterday because I had direct access to him. And I knew him to be serious and reasonable. I am posting this here publicly because it’s the only option available to me. GCGM needs to fix up and that won’t be by us seeing those initials on his head at all times. We already know he is GCGM. I like the man and he looks like he cares. He just needs to show it. New hires must hit the ground running already and he hasn’t hit the ground, let alone be deemed to be running. We can’t even say he is a new hire now. It’s been over 3 months. It’s still the same difference, if not worse. We want results please. Please go back to the plain cap you wore when you were sworn in and leave these photo ops for ministers that can’t afford not to do them. There are bigger rewards on the back of a job well done. If things get better, I probably wouldn’t notice the cap that much.

@Polymath_16 Don't compare the wealth of Dr Oyedepo to Economies of CU. He's a best selling Author, Most Sought after Speaker, Mentors to many. He has raised a lot of rich men! That has nothing to do with CU. Meanwhile, didn't they negotiate pay before recruitment?

It’s obvious your making excuses for him, a man of God should put the people first; the Bible clearly states that if you say you love GOD and you don’t love your brother then you lie. A man of God is dedicated to serve humanity but most of them now chase the vanity the Bible preaches against.

The hospital I’m working at in this UK is not as big as this. It has 10,000 staffs and it serves 1.1million people in its locality. Imagine this place is a hospital, where you can employ 10k medical and non-medical practitioners, and you can look after 1million people in that state. It will be huge! If I ever become the president of Nigeria or my friend becomes one, I will push for there not to be new religious building for 50years.

This woman in my office took a ₦5 million loan from the cooperative, and it was approved. She called her church pastor and said; “Daddy, God has done it, sir! That loan I told you about, I just received it. Please, sir, can you give me the church account number? I want to pay my tithe.” She was smiling lavishly as she sent ₦500,000 as tithe from the loan money. Ever since that day, I stopped talking to her, aside from exchanging normal greetings. I really cannot tolerate f0olish people.
Jah-Bless@JahBlesssaint21

I was with my sister last night. We were talking, and suddenly I asked her, “If you made a 10M profit from a contract, what would you do with the money?” She replied, “I’ll do 500k shopping, send my mom 200k, pay my tithe of 1M, and add the remaining 8M to my japa project.” Honestly, the moment I heard that tithe part, it ruined my evening immediately. Like, wtf 🤦‍♂️😭 How did Nigerian pastors manage to brainwash women in this country into thinking it’s only when they pay tithe that God will continue to bless them? Right now, I don’t even know how to save my sister again. 1M to pastor? Pour me water 🤦‍♂️😭
