According to Ibn Abi Zar'a al Fassi Yusuf ibn Tashfin amassed the largest army of his time consisting of 100 000 men from Masmuda , Sanhaja , Jazula and Zenata who joined him in Draa with additional mercenaries from Ghana and Europe , and conquered all of the Ghumara lands from Rif to Tangiers and conquered Fes from Zanata Emirs of Maghrawa , Banu Yafran and Miknassa ,in the 2nd sack of Fes the Zanata alliance lost 3000 men , in the time Yusuf ibn Tashfin went to Ghumara , he left 100 Lamtuna cheikhs in the city , the Zanati emir Mu'ansir ibn Tamim took the opportunity and took Fes back from him slaughtering the 100 men and crucifying them in a cruel way this angered Yusuf severely who then returned to Fes and sieged the city until he took it , it was the 3rd conquest , Yusuf's army massacred the inhabitants of Fes indistriminantly Ibn Abi Zar'a al Fasi states that in this storm 20 000 men of Maghrawa and Banu Yefran were killed , Yusuf also took Tlemcen , Guercif , Melilia and all the Rif , he destroyed the famous city of Nakūr the capital of the Emir Salih al Nafzi
