The truth is that political correctness within policing (and other public services) facilitated this national scandal. To get justice, we need to focus on what the police is doing now: How many specialist officers are the relevant police forces diverting to these cases? How many live investigations are ongoing? How long is it, on average, taking from arrest to charge? And then how long to trial? Cases were fast-tracked in the summer. The same should happen now. Greater Manchester Police, South Yorks and West Yorks Police forces are the starting point (and there are many more). Where are the PCC’s? What are the Chief Constables doing right now? This is what the Grooming Gangs Taskforce that I set up did on a large scale. It led to 550 arrests in the first year and identified 4000 victims and protected them from harm. The same vigour that the Prime Minister showed towards the summer riots is vital right now. Will he step up to deliver justice for these women and girls?
