@TheMistakery I’d say the latter, but we also haven’t really seen him get completely destroyed in the games (not to the same extent as in the OVA), so I’d assume it’s still the same Metal Sonic? 🤔

@Sephys00 Actually that brings up a thought: is metal always the same character? when he’s destroyed Eggman builds a new body and uses back ups of his memory but is that really the same being the same being with many bodies or many beings that replace each other?

One of the most amusing parts of the Sonic X dub for me is watching Sonic gradually lose the Very Obvious Boston Accent over the course of the show

Also, not enough people are talking about how they brought back Metal Sonic predicting Sonic’s movements in the manga.
That detail goes all the way back to the 1996 OVA. It was never mentioned in the games before.
Love seeing OVA elements coming back :D

There’s a funny pattern in Japanese Sonic media with Metal Sonic: When he appears, the only way things end is with him completely wrecked. That speaks volumes about how serious of a threat that mf is.

What’s interesting about concept art is how it reveals ideas that don’t disappear, just get toned down (from a design viewpoint).
Shadow was also much closer to Sonic early on, and they wanted his design to convey that superhuman strength more clearly too.

although i know the reason they changed this from a design standpoint, i do think whoever thought of giving him "front quills down-back quills shorter" in the concept art WAS cooking ngl. this way, Silver DOES look like Sonic from the shadows, until he uses his powers that is.
