Confidence can’t be borrowed ‼️ Arkansas men’s basketball coach John Calipari said it straight. A coach should not be the source of a player’s confidence. Real confidence has to be built by the player through their own work. Coaches can push you, challenge you, and guide you, but they cannot dribble for you, shoot for you, or make plays for you when the game gets hard. That part is on you. Elite players already understand this. Their confidence does not come from praise, hype, or someone constantly reminding them they’re good. It comes from the hours nobody sees. It comes from reps, discipline, and knowing they put in the work. If a player needs their parents, grandparents, or coaches to constantly give them confidence and validation, they will never build the kind of toughness it takes to become a high level player. The truth is, basketball rewards the self-made. The players who last are the ones who learn how to believe in themselves without needing to be carried there by everybody else
