We have to be able to apply the brakes in order to truly accelerate the clubhead. Here I’m using a sling to demonstrate the feeling I have when I strike a golf ball. At impact, I want to feel like I’m pulling up and away—creating that snap, that release of stored energy. It’s not a push… it’s a dynamic change of direction. Jack Nicklaus spoke about this sensation, but very few have carried it forward or truly understood how to apply it. This is one of those timeless principles that separates solid ball strikers from everyone else.
