@alexelliottgolf Of course not, they should time people and do it that way. Four hours and 15 minutes at the latest. I have played w single digits so impressed with themselves and all the measurements they do and all the practice swings, they’re way slower than I am. And I am a 15 at best.

@AlanShipnuck That’s just a bastardized version of what they tried to do. Golf will never be at the level of the top three. The first thing I thought of when I read the paragraph at the bottom was the current United Football League. We are now at the “Let Die” portion of our program.

@Top100Rick Nobody wants to see that. Everything isn’t good television. Wagner doing it is cool because he’s closer to an every golfer than the pros are. I don’t want to be watching pro athletes take on Golf and everyday people will be an elevated level of horrific.

Watching Johnson Wagner recreate shots has convinced me of one thing 100%: The PGA Tour should broadcast 4 regular Joes every Monday playing the tour setup. Imagine a 0,5,10,15 handicap trying to battle the blue monster tomorrow. Counting every shot.

@Luke_Elvy @livgolf_league They wouldn’t do it for one reason: there’s a risk they wouldn’t get the principal back or make any money on a failed experiment. Everybody went went for the upfront money. Why would they invest in the outcome or something that didn’t work or something related to it?

An investment idea for @livgolf_league - have all the captains pool their massive sign on bonuses from PIF into a consortium & buy the league. It would have to be around $1bn & they can back the concept they committed so strongly to. Would be akin to SSG’s investment into PGAT.

@AndrewKirbyGolf LIV did prove that even youth crowd won’t watch a crap, enhanced member guest format on TV.They had a place to go where it was loud & they could get trashed & not care about the outcome.I’d say it was a success for that if that’s what they want. I agree that Tour is on the clock.

I’m not sure what’s going to happen to world pro golf But if the PGAT now thinks it can sit back and can carry on with a bad broadcast with mega ads, soft courses and set ups, an ageing demographic watching and a lack of innovation They face some big challenges

@AlanShipnuck @Skratch Excellent, feels like the start of the additional content for the paperback…😀. Meanwhile, I would submit that their only innovation was a few locations. That leaderboard that was in the left side of every screen was nothing but Golf Sanskrit, while dumbing down the format.

I think two lessons from LIV will be ... 1. You can't solve time problems with money. It took 40 years of playing the Masters before people *really* started to care. You can't speed that up by signing big checks. You can't microwave history. 2. A modicum of humility goes a long way. Thumping your chest out of the gate and saying "we're gonna redefine a 200-year-old sport over the next few seasons" is not a good strategy. It might eventually be true (spoiler: it wasn't), but it does the opposite of what it probably feels like it's going to do. Most fans are smart, and immense hubris is rarely attractive in any business setting.
