An HIV-positive man with colon cancer, unable to work for four years, lived in his Los Angeles apartment for almost 25 years.
He says he mailed his rent on time. The landlord said the check never arrived and filed for eviction.
After a trial, a jury ruled he DID mail the payment, but since it wasn't cashed, they said he failed to pay on time.
A judge ordered him out. Sheriff's deputies escorted him from his home of a quarter-century.
He took his dog, Simba, and his clothes. He left behind his furniture, his blankets, his two TVs, and his beloved Madonna CDs.
He's now homeless, sleeping on a friend's sofa.
The system will evict a dying man over a payment dispute.
But a corporation can squat in bankruptcy court for years? "That's a different matter entirely."

This mistreated dog came to our shelter carrying deep fear from his past. At first, he wouldn’t eat, stayed curled in the corner, trembling and flinching at every little sound. He didn’t know how to trust or feel safe.
Then our gentle Pit Bull named Honey showed up... moving slowly, giving space, and quietly sharing food. The little dog began to open up, slowly learning what trust feels like, until finally he chose to sit close, finally feeling safe and not alone anymore. And for the first time, he felt what it meant to be loved. Honey the Pit Bull deserves recognition for his gentle, kind heart. ❤

Inspirasyon ang hatid ng delivery rider na ito sa netizens dahil sa kanyang matiyagang pag-iipon ng tip para may ipangbili ng pagkain ng mga pagala-galang hayop. #PhilStarFurYou

30-year-old news, plus color-enhanced electron microscopy, plus combo pills, plus ignoring people diagnosed with <200 CD4=fake news
ScienceFocus@ScienceFocusonX
HIV used to be a death sentence. Not anymore. Modern medicine flipped the script. Antiretroviral Therapy, better known as ART, can now push the virus down to undetectable levels in the bloodstream. Undetectable means untransmittable. It also means people living with HIV can expect a lifespan close to anyone else's. Let that sink in. A diagnosis that once shattered futures has been turned into a manageable condition you take a pill for. Science didn't just slow HIV down. It rewrote what living with it looks like.

I just want to say that the first days and weeks are the most difficult. It does get better--and this is coming from someone who has lived with HIV for over thirty years, back in the days when there was no effective treatment, to our single pill treatments today.
There's nothing to beer determined from the viral load. After an initial spike, it levels off, and we can remain symptom free for years. This resting, pre-treatment VL is different for everyone. For women, their set point tend to be lower.
My one bit of advice: nothing can be gained from looking backwards. Your life has changed, and you're best course of action is to deal with your new medical reality and keep moving forward. Life goes on.
Also, just FYI, I worked in HIV research and in clinical settings for thirty years. I regularly post on new medications and cure research, so if you're interested, follow me.
And if you have questions about lab results or treatment options, feel free to DM

Hi. Please hide me. I found out recently that I'm HIV positive. I asked my girlfriend to come with me to the clinic and she didn't refuse. We got there and she also tested positive. So I asked her if she knew all along and she said NO but her viral load is very low. How is that possible if it's her first time? Honestly I don't believe her. Could she be the one that infected me? I'm now thinking of all the illnesses she was having months ago. Something is not adding up. We've been together 9 months. I just want answers

Eating well and exercise are key to a healthy immune system. So is quality sleep and how well we deal with stress.
Mindfullness helps us let go of negative thoughts and feelings that can drive down our numbers.
But the number one thing is our CD4 count before HIV.
And that’s a number we’ll never know, because only PLWH are given the CD4 test.
So if some of our blood siblings have a count around 400-500, or 800-900, that may simply be our normal before HIV.
We do know that having 1,000 CD4 won’t make you get sick less often that someone with 450. Perhaps some of those with low numbers have better functioning natural killer cells.
I think it’s important not to get stressed over a single result. CD4 counts help our provider track our improvement over time.
Living with HIV is a marathon, not a sprint ❤️
