The #Royals have been tough to put away today. Caglianone comes to the plate as the tying-run with two outs in the ninth. What a long baseball game.

No Garcia again but this is a VERY interesting lineup, if Carter can do well leading off (or being in the top 3 in general) then it opens up options for this team

@Drizzy_Dru29 @Koreanfan_KC Mears wasn’t good, hasn’t been lately, no disagreement there. We will agree to disagree about the expectations for a reliever coming into that spot. My expectation would be to hold them to 1 or less in that spot, I think expecting 0 is unrealistic.

@SethAtkins @Koreanfan_KC You got 1 out and bases loaded, all you need is one ground ball. If it was no outs that’s different. Mears is supposed to be high-leverage I needed him to be sharper.

Mears went from a low-leverage outing to high-leverage in the matter of two hitters. Could only get 1 out, walked 2 people. Runs were charged to Cam, but Mears has to get out of that inning with no damage.

@RoblBrenton Glad Q decided he could only throw 1 out and about 5 pitches tonight. No way this comes back to haunt us…

@matt_basement @codybtapp When the team has 4 other major positional holes/needs, yes. Obviously I’m just a fan, so I don’t know everything, but when they also desperately need an edge rusher, more help at WR, and safety help it’s hard to give away valuable trade capital.

@KCHSBall Game Changer has no setting to allow stats to be visible to all, but not spray charts. So if a team allows anyone to see stats they can also see spray charts which is a huge advantage to opposing teams. It 100% makes sense to make stats private for this reason.

Teams I want to promote your teams and your players. Keeping your stats on GC private is dumb. I can't go out and say look at player x who has so many hits and is batting .400 if I can't see it.

@klseaboldt There’s a difference between arguing he should be fired and questioning many of his decisions. If you aren’t willing to do the latter you shouldn’t be in sports radio. He made 3-4 really questionable decisions tonight that he should be criticized for.

It appears this season is not going to go the way any of us planned. However, whether you like it or not, the Royals are probably not going to fire their manager. Teams don’t generally fire a manager who’s coming off two winning seasons and to whom they just gave an extension. I’m not arguing principle; I’m arguing pragmatic reality. So I’m unlikely to entertain nightly arguments about whether or not he should be fired. I don’t have the energy. We can talk about his successes and failings, the lineup, the pitching staff, really anything that is actually happening. But a firing is not happening anytime soon and probably not this year.

@codybtapp Elite starting pitching, awful offense, awful bullpen, bad coaching/managing. Hard to overcome being bad at 3 of the 4.

@klseaboldt Just such bad managing. Bobby should 100% run once there are 2 outs. Worst thing that happens is he gets caught stealing, he starts at 2nd base with Vinnie up next inning.
