So many wait to get mad until it’s about money$
Don’t get me wrong: I’m mad Ryan Walters has misspent & used taxpayer funds as carrots. BUT, I’m furious that his 2 years of rhetoric has created unsafe places for kids while dismantling the support #oklaed districts had available.

Interesting RW bragged about cutting staff at SDE & now says there aren’t enough. I still have to fulfill sped services regardless of staffing?
The services and knowledge at SDE have declined tremendously.

Started year 10 as a principal today. On the drive this AM the thought popped in my head, “I get to do this”. This isn’t toxic positivity. We have real outside threats to the flourishing of our children and core of our profession. However, I truly love this profession.

They gave me this tiny clip for Father’s Day, because I’m “strong”.
I hope we are always transparent enough for them to see the struggle and reward of continually pursuing a life of health. Hopefully it’s a new root system.

Oklahoma turns over 20% of principals each year. Of these 50% leave education.
That means 10% of our principals are exiting each year without trained succession.

In 3 years our team has gone from ~50% staff retention to 90%+. District anonymous survey revealed 90+% feel supported by site admin & culture is positive or extremely +.
Formative assessments 2-3x.
Every kid has gone to 2-6 field trips.
PTA created.

Historically, 85% FRL rate.
It is possible but it takes a lot of intentionality, time, hard work, collective norms, and BELIEF from our team.
