i would like to formally apologize to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and the devs who created it for waiting this long to play simply because i didn't care for "turn-based combat" even though, ironically, that is currently one of my favorite parts of the game. lesson learned: try something before you judge. there is an exception to every rule.

No matter how many times I look at this official art of Verso, it still rips my heart out. The composition is unbearably painful: multiple swords driven into the left side of his chest, right where his heart should be, with another blade piercing him straight through from behind. But for someone with an immortal body like his, maybe the wounds that truly destroyed him were never the ones carved into his flesh. What makes this moment so devastating is the sense that the real pain didn’t come from being impaled by those blades, but from how they seemed to reach somewhere far deeper, tearing into his very soul.
