🏀 💬 As we work on @SCNext rankings expansion, @bballjkey @KPannell71 & I created a positional depth chart & took a deep dive into numbers to find patterns & efficiencies. There are of course the outlier ⭐️’s obvious to everyone. But generally speaking, with respect to level, the differences are in CONTROLLABLE details. You will be solidly/heavily recruited if you can produce consistently in these ways (again, with respect to size/level): POINT GUARD: Touch the paint, pressure the ball, have a + A/TO rate, and get others involved with a steady presence. Bonus: shoot it from three respectfully. GUARD: Shoot with a respectable consistency, keep the ball in front defensively, and get to the FT line .. maybe even rebound a little bit. Bonus: create off the bounce & initiate offense if needed. WING: Prove you can catch and shoot .. get to the FT line, finish at the rim, guard multiple positions & without fouling, rebound and keep your matchup off the glass. Bonus: Be efficient with dribbles - and offensive rebound! FORWARD: Rebound and Defend! Apply physicality. Finish well with either hand. Run the floor. Bonus: stretch the floor and have some perimeter competency: moderate handle and ability to keep a guard in front defensively. Face up game! POST: Solid hands, moderate footwork, and a motor! Finish with either hand. Have an understanding of ball screen coverage. Bonus: Make FT’s and trail or corner threes. Rotate defensively without fouling. Face up game. ALL: Be an involved and intentional teammate. If your actions show you care about WINNING, you ✅ more boxes.
