The Sherman Shadowcats are proud to announce that they have officially joined the Texas Collegiate League (TCL) — one of the premier summer collegiate baseball leagues in the nation. The move marks a major milestone for the Sherman community and brings top-level collegiate baseball to North Texas fans this summer. “Joining the Texas Collegiate League represents a huge step forward for our program and for the City of Sherman,” said Tommy Scholl, Shadowcats President/General Manager. “Our mission has always been to provide elite opportunities for college athletes while giving fans a fun, family-friendly baseball experience. The TCL gives us the perfect platform to do both.” The Texas Collegiate League, founded in 2004, has a storied history of developing players who go on to succeed in professional baseball — including several who have reached the Major Leagues. The Shadowcats addition strengthens the league’s North Texas presence and adds an exciting new rivalry component to TCL competition. “We’re not just building a team — we’re building a tradition,” added owner, Tim Woodland. “The Shadowcats are here to represent Sherman with pride, passion, and hard-nosed baseball. We can’t wait to see this town continue to come alive under the lights.” Fans can expect a high-energy summer of baseball at Veterans Field in Sherman, complete with promotional nights, community events, and appearances from local youth baseball programs. The Sherman Shadowcats are excited to announce the hiring of Chris Johnson as Manager for the upcoming 2025 season. Coach Johnson is no stranger to coaching high level baseball players. Currently an Assistant Coach at national powerhouse Western Oklahoma State College, serving as the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach. Before joining the staff at WOSC, Johnson served as an assistant coach at Lane College, a Div II program located in Jackson, TN. Coach Johnson has played an integral part in helping produce several MLB draftees and Div I baseball players during his career. “Chris is a very talented coach and recruiter, but what stood out to me was his character and the relationships he has built with his former and current players.” said President/General Manager Tommy Scholl. “During our conversations about this position, we outlined several areas and strategies for change that will lead to greater success, while also recognizing the positive current culture and many strengths in our program in our program that were developed under Coach Counts. I’m excited about the future of our club under Coach Johnson’s leadership.” The Sherman Shadowcats, looking to build off of their record setting inaugural season in the Mid America League, open their season on May 22nd.
