@Arquata_Alice Any pair of pliers can be used to tear off the panels. They usually come off quite easily

初めてJLCPCBのスタンダードPCBAで製造してもらった電源基板。 こんな形で来るのかー、ほええ エコノミーと違って基板が切り離されていないので、自分で外すよ。

Measuring electrical continuity is an important step towards diagnosing any issues that come up with PCBs

@karaage0703 What an awesome build, reminds us of some of the robots from Ghost in the Shell. Do you have more information about this project or the authors that you can share?

@signalgaining We use LLMs in our workflows & they work well. The thing is making a PCB with many different integrated circuits is not hard, it just requires reading the documentation to set it all up correctly. It turns out LLMs have already ingested that information so you can just query them

Today was weird. I put OpenAI Codex ChatGPT 5.5 extra high through a microscope to debug firmware while debugging a custom PCB. Well it fixed it. Codex learned how to use the webcam API and USB-C-firmware-deployment CLIs. The transition from carbon based neurons to silicon should scare you.

When issues happen with a PCB, it's time to break out the multimeter to find out what's wrong

unpopular take: the most underrated piece of object engineering in your house is your front-load washer door seal. it's a torus of EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer, picked because it survives hot water + detergent + bleach for 10+ years). it has 3 sealing lips, drainage channels routed to prevent mold, and a bellows geometry that absorbs drum vibration without leaking under 1200 RPM spin. it costs your manufacturer maybe $4. it does more mechanical work than your car's serpentine belt and you've never noticed it. that's the gold standard

@lysandrou_ Looks great! What sort of use cases do you imagine focusing this device for?

@seveibar We've experimented with using LLMs for hardware design; works quite well overall. Where we have found shortcomings are sometimes the LLM will grab the wrong datasheet for a part (e.g., when there are multiple variants/packages of the same IC) and thus will use the wrong pinout

This is what happens when you prompt codex to generate an electronic device with tscircuit None of these boards were edited. No follow up prompts were allowed. Codex always started from scratch from a two sentence prompt.

@OwenBrakes PCB layout would help tremendously. Likely, it will be the most challenging to implement because of physics. One must account for signal timing, thermals, routing geometry, etc. as they all become critical to proper function. Current work on schematics is still nice however!

Does this rotary encoder look right to you guys? I have no clue what I am doing. I've seen some diagrams with another resistor between the GPIO but that seems unnecessary no?
