I firmly believe that the UFC will slowly try to whittle away WMMA from their product.
They can’t fully eliminate it since the genie is out of the bottle, but they’ll probably do stuff like eliminating women’s 135 after Harrison vs. Nunes. Not signing Larissa Pacheco points in that direction.
I expect that they’ll only start pushing women’s MMA again when a conventionally attractive female fighter starts showing signs of star potential.

I find it very believable. The Ronda Rousey boom is over. The UFC are out of the female fight business. It’s a token at this point. -80% of female fights in 2025 were prelims. -Fights primarily in Apex. -Last female main event was 17 months ago. -UFC 289 last female PPV main event.

@ELaw32 Totally get it, and I’m content with how that’s played out given this will never have to be my source of income. I like to imagine that even as a random fan, hearing someone ask JDM if Islam needs to LEAVE THE DAMN DIVISION for him to regain the title is insanity. 😭

I dont mind some of the questions they went with, they lighten the mood, but yeah some of that got a little weird. Could have been better, but that happens a lot when they go into cities.
At the same time your criticism matches that of many who haven't been able to get into the UFC media room so it comes off different, know what I mean?

It honestly might be one of the worst media rooms I’ve heard in a while. I don’t know exactly who’s in there outside of Oscar, so maybe it’s a lot of first-timers, but still…it’s been bad.

@ELaw32 I’ll be the first to say I still have a lot to learn, but as someone who’s struggled to get into the UFC media room, this is incredibly discouraging. It makes you wonder about the future of coverage beyond those on the promotion’s payroll. Plenty of deserving voices are missing.

JDM got asked about losing to Islam over and over again, like that was the vast majority of his questions. Then he got hit with the exact same “does a win here get you a title shot?” question multiple times to the point where he literally pointed out that he already answered it.

I always try my best to refrain from criticizing people trying to carve a path in the space, but I feel it’s important for us to learn from the bad just as much as we do the good. The media at this #UFC card has been especially rough to listen to.
