Taking off the teal glasses I'm not sure what the ump is supposed to do. He is reading the player not the ball...i know people in hindsight want him to 40 yard dash out of there but how many times do you see that on routine plays?

Mixed feelings on this play… Umpire can’t be in the way, can’t be near being in the way. Jack also wasn’t close to tracking this ball so not surprising the umpire didn’t track it well either though.

@Bpquigs From the moment he started tracking the ball the umpire didn’t leave from within 2ft of him. How often do you see guys move around tracking a ball like that? They drop foul balls all the time having to move at the last second to grab it. You’re about the only person saying this.

@ShakeeleOatmeal First baseman's first move is right....so the ump goes backwards because he thinks the ball will be to the right. Then th first baseman goes backwards twords the ump so now the ump goes left to go away from the player who is going back and right and then the player goes left....
