@HollyMLoughton I wrote to mine within a year of my transplant. Ended up meeting them, going on daybreak and walking Hadrians wall in 2016 over 6 days with my donors mum.

I’d really encourage all transplant recipients to write (anon) to their donor families if they feel able to, you don’t have to wait til you have something “good enough” to tell them. We’re all human & connection means a lot. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

If you look on YouTube there is an excellent video about how Britain was first to abolished the slave trade and spent its treasure on this mission.
