Cut the fat. San Diego doesn’t have a revenue problem — it has a spending problem. California doesn’t have a revenue problem — it has a spending problem. Taxpayers are willing to invest when they see results that actually improve everyday life: safer neighborhoods, repaired roads, functioning streetlights, strong schools, reliable public safety, and well-supported firefighters and first responders. People are not asking for perfection — they’re asking for accountability and a return on the money they already pay into the system. At some point, government has to stop treating taxpayers like an unlimited ATM and start proving it can responsibly manage the billions it already receives. 🎥 @CA_Insider #sandiego #taxes #califórnia

Nothing but love and appreciation for the iconic @mslaurynhill pulling up to San Diego. A true legend whose artistry, soul, and influence shaped generations. Had the honor of stopping by before the meet & greet to personally thank her for blessing the city with her presence. Proud to present her with a proclamation from my office recognizing her incredible legacy and impact on culture. Some people make music. Some people make history. Lauryn Hill did both. “How you gon’ win when you ain’t right within?” — Lauryn Hill 🎶

Folks ain’t just “over politics” … they exhausted. Every midterm cycle turns into the same movie: politicians playing chess with government workers’ lives while regular people gotta eat the consequences. Meanwhile the public gets campaign speeches, finger pointing, and another shutdown scare. “Everybody wanna rule the world, but nobody wanna lose.” — J. Cole 🎶 🎥 @cnn

A love note to my biological Mom Kimberly 🕊️ It’s strange how someone can be gone for decades and still feel woven into everyday life. I still carry you with me — in the way I laugh, the way I love, the way I keep going even when life gets heavy. I was only sixteen when you left, and there are so many versions of me you never got to meet. I wish I could sit beside you now and tell you everything. There were days I needed your voice. Days I needed your hug. Days I just needed my mom. But somehow, even through the distance between worlds, I think your love still found me. I hope wherever you are with the ancestors, you are at peace. I hope you know your child still thinks of you, still misses you, still loves you with a love that never learned how to end. Thank you for every piece of strength and softness you left behind in me. I carry your name in my spirit. I carry your love in my bones. And when my time comes someday, I hope I’ll recognize you immediately. See you in the next lifetime 🕊️ Love always, Shane

🔊 At some point, we have to be honest: working and middle-class families are being squeezed from every direction in California. Higher taxes, higher fees, higher costs — yet people are struggling more than ever. We should be focused on policies that help people keep more of their hard-earned money, not constant piecemeal taxation that keeps hitting everyday Californians. 🎥 @CA_Insider

Government doesn’t always have a revenue problem — it has a spending problem. I joined @california.insider to talk about why I believe Californians should be able to keep more of their hard-earned money instead of facing constant new taxes and fees. I will always be a voice against erroneous and misleading tax measures especially in places like my hometown of San Diego and the State of California that only take more money out of your pocket when it is already as difficult as it is to pull everything together at the dining room table. Watch this clip from our conversation. 🎥 #lowtaxation #california #sandiego #noonmeasurea

San Diego is voting on Measure A this June, a proposed tax on non-primary homes aimed at addressing both a housing shortage and a $121 million city budget deficit. The tax is $8,000 in the first year and $10,000 every year after, regardless of the property's value. What does that mean for the average homeowner? In this episode @shaneharrisnow, CEO and Founder of @sharrismedia, join us to examine what enforcement would demand of the city and whether Measure A can deliver on its housing promise. #SanDiego #Housing

Proud to be in attendance tonight for my friend Chula Vista Mayor John McCann’s State of the City—an opportunity to reflect on the progress and bold vision shaping one of San Diego County’s fastest-growing cities and one of America’s 10 safest cities. In all of my roles—as Director of Communications at Gomez Trial Attorneys, CEO of S Harris Communications, and as a San Diego Public Advocate—I look forward to continuing to work alongside one of our region’s hardest working mayors as we expand our cross-border impact and strengthen the future of the South Bay. Excited for what’s ahead for Chula Vista.

So make this make sense. The @sdmts board voted this week to raise fare prices while “transit advocates” want you to believe that riding public transit is the best way to get around in San Diego and while they use seemingly every tool to try and force San Diegans out of their cars which isn’t working. I understand folks who do not want to ride public transit in this town. Public transit doesn’t reach the distance needed, doesn’t move fast enough, and now is getting more expensive for the common San Diegan. No thank you. 👎

I am pleased to announce that the La Mesa City Council has officially passed my proposal to designate Bill Walton Way on Lowell Street near Helix High School — the place where the NBA Hall of Famer spent his formative years and where his journey began. This moment builds on the foundation we established in November 2025, when, on what would have been Bill Walton’s 73rd birthday, Lori Walton joined us publicly to announce her full support for these first-of-their-kind proposals in both the City of San Diego and the City of La Mesa. That moment helped affirm that this effort was not only community-driven, but also deeply supported by the Walton family. With La Mesa now taking this historic step, we turn our attention to the next phase — advancing my proposal in the City of San Diego. In the coming days, I look forward to marking La Mesa’s action with a ceremonial signing near Helix High School, celebrating this milestone and formally closing this portion of my office’s work. At that time, we will also outline the next steps to move forward with the San Diego portion of the proposal. This is a meaningful step in ensuring Bill Walton’s legacy is honored in the communities that shaped his life — and the work continues. Finally I thank La Mesa Councilmember @councilwomanlauralothian for helping my office to get the ball rolling on this in La Mesa. #billwalton #lamesa #sandiego #nba #billwaltonway

Tonight the La Mesa City Council passed my proposal for Bill Walton Way a street sign to honor the NBA Hall of Famer. Here is my statement on the proposal I drafted, worked with the family on and am set to sign into effect: “Tonight is a powerful moment for La Mesa and for everyone who loved and admired Bill Walton. I want to sincerely thank the La Mesa City Council for recognizing the importance of this proposal and for taking action to honor one of the greatest individuals our region has ever known. When this proposal was first introduced in October 2025, there were no active efforts underway in either the City of San Diego or the City of La Mesa to formally honor Bill Walton in this way. This initiative helped spark that conversation and bring forward a community-driven effort to ensure his legacy is properly recognized. I didn’t just sit in wonder. Instead my office got to work to draft the memos, identify locations as options, and issued them to the respective cities. Bill Walton represented the very best of this community — generosity, humility, and a lifelong commitment to giving back. I look forward to celebrating this achievement with the Walton family and the community during a special Bill Walton Way signing ceremony and the separate unveiling event in the near future. This is more than a sign — it is a lasting tribute to a life that continues to inspire generations.” #lamesa #billwalton #sandiegocounty 😃🎶 Grateful Dead

@grace_2e @grace_2e I am with the No on Measure A Campaign in San Diego. This appears to be a very one sided article among many that are sharing opinions with me. I am requesting that LA times now interview the opposition to this and publish a companion piece for fair coverage. This is a very one sided and biased article by many accounts an even the title appears to be one sided. latimes.com/california/sto…

Last week we stood on the steps of San Diego City Hall and made one thing clear: Don’t be fooled. If you live within the city of San Diego limits this effects homeowners 🏡. Measure A is being sold as a “housing solution”… but let’s call it what it really is — a tax on homeowners. If your home is considered not your primary residence and is deemed “vacant” for more than half the year, the city can hit you with up to a $10,000 tax a year — and force you to prove how you use your own property. That’s not solving housing. That’s targeting homeowners. It’s invasive. And here’s what they don’t want you to focus on: That money doesn’t even have to go to housing. It goes straight into the City’s General Fund — meaning they can spend it however they want. So how does this help fix the housing crisis? It doesn’t. It creates more rules, more bureaucracy, and more costs — while doing nothing to build new homes. This is an attack on homeownership. Plain and simple. We’re standing up because San Diegans deserve real solutions — not another tax disguised as one. 🗳️ Vote NO on Measure A all City of San Diego residents. Learn more about our efforts to stop this rogue tax regime at stopmeasurea.com @sharrismedia is fully backing the @StopMeasureA_SD campaign. #sandiego #homeownership #2026election #vote
