@Strickomaster Me either, apologies, I thought the initial post inferred that reducing exclusions HAD to be at the cost of high expectations for behaviour.

@Strickomaster I've seen it too. I agree that high expectations are really important. It's a complex issue, behaviour, and the argument between exclusions vs not hasn't been a particularly strong factor in my experience in determining positive or negative learning environments.

@Strickomaster Why would reducing suspensions/exclusions mean not promoting rules and positive behaviour? Is that all we have got?

@RogersHistory Hi Tom, in school and also the situation you describe, there are many factors at play. Most we don't know about, some we might not care much for and others we simply don't have the time to understand. Does behaviour need to be managed in such a binary fashion?

If you were squared up to and assaulted in the street for no reason - would you be happy if the police arrived at the scene, had a nice chat with the person who did it about why, they said a solemn ‘sorry’ so the police said ‘Thanks, you can now go about your business’? I’m presuming some ppl on here would be v cool with this.

@DrJerricah These cards are excellent. They give children a great way of being able to communicate their worries and protective factors in a kind way that they is easy to understand.
