I want to work in a #comedy TV writing room so badly I have basically turned all my small creative writing classes into comedy writing rooms! LOL. The students write all their funny ideas on a white board, pitch, and riff! They rock at twisted sci-fi comedy. They're 8-12 years!

I feel like I just had a masterclass on how to impact people's heart, minds, and possibly their biases, by watching Oscar nominated short "Red, White, and Blue." I loved this movie. thewrap.com/red-white-and-…

I embraced my past struggles with anxiety in a new ten minute play/monologue about a Dragon Slayer whose anxiety helped her survive. It's a quirky, dark comedy. Excited it made a short list for two different festivals! There will be more anxiety in my future...scripts.😀

@heatherAtaylor @ZackMorrison18 Some practical activities I can also give, including: tiny daily ACHIEVABLE goals, freewriting, 10 minute writing, writing to photos. Basically anything short that tricks the editor/anxious mind. But, learning tools to cope with perfectionism/anxiety/fear will help long term.

@ZackMorrison18 Yeah -- I'm the one to show it to, but the writing isn't happening. Starting with one page a writing session to make it an attainable goal and some freewriting to start to get things going. Would love any other practical activities if you have them?

Started a daily poetry practise, as a way to explore more of me. (I was a poet before I was a screenwriter.) This one surprised me, in a good way.

@heatherAtaylor I do!!! But it doesn't fit in a tiny little tweet :) But, at it's core its about adopting a GROWTH mindset. Also, I just took a whole course on perfectionism/avoidance/anxiety. So, feel free to send them my way too.

So, all this to say, that a CHILD understands the importance of accurate representation of mental illness in ways that more fully reflects the person who has the condition, and she is motivated to do so. So, why can't all media? The newest generation fills me with so much hope.

I took a breath, and carefully explained how it is more responsible to show another side of her character, or to show us the character getting better. I was worried she wouldn't get it, because its an illness she's only seen on TV. And she's only 12 and talks to stuffies.

Nothing invigorates me more than creative collaboration. Just got brought on as a writer, to an unscripted series in development, that destigmatizes mental health. It's artsy, visually beautiful, and with super talented women! Fingers crossed that this series gets greenlit.

When my 9 year old students saw my new pink hair today, I was expecting Ooh and Ahhs. What I got instead... "Did you dye your hair because of Barbie?" "My mom thinks pink is a color for little kids." "You look like a unicorn!" "You look silly." For each, my response: Thank you.

Just when I thought I was ready to date again, I watched "Promising Young Woman," and that desire just got snuffed right out. Any recommendations of movies that might have the reverse effect? I'd like to date before the rainy season.
