@ShapedByExile It was that or some sort of perception filter making you look human. Or a shape shifter like a Zygon. But Time Lord was the first one to come to mind.

@ShapedByExile Umโ€ฆ but thatโ€™s not really very accurate. I mean, to you, but Iโ€™m not exactly a standard of beauty. Iโ€™m just smart, which you find attractive. Most humans donโ€™t really share the sentiment.

On this day in 1901, in the quiet town of Wรผrzburg, Bavaria, a boy was born who would one day rob the universe of its last illusion of certainty. His name was Werner Heisenberg. At 23, still looking more like a student than a professor, he fled to the barren North Sea island of Helgoland to escape hay fever. There, battered by wind and solitude, he performed a calculation so radical it felt like witchcraft: the first complete mathematical description of the quantum world. No neat planetary orbits, no precise paths, just strange grids of numbers that predicted everything with terrifying accuracy. Matrix mechanics was born, the raw, unforgiving first draft of quantum theory.A couple of years later he casually predicted the existence of two forms of molecular hydrogen (ortho and para) that no experiment had ever seen. The labs caught up soon enough and found he was, of course, exactly right. Then, in 1927, pacing the floor of a Copenhagen attic above a noisy bar while arguing with Niels Bohr into the small hours, Heisenberg realized the punchline of the universe: the more precisely you know where a particle is, the less you can ever know where itโ€™s going, and vice versa. Not a flaw in our tools. A law carved into the bones of reality. The Uncertainty Principle, the most elegant middle finger ever flipped at classical physics. He didnโ€™t stop there. Turbulence, atomic nuclei, ferromagnetism, cosmic rays, the zoo of subatomic particles, he left footprints across half of modern physics like it was a playground. At 31, the Nobel committee handed him the 1932 Physics Prize (delayed a year because the world was still catching its breath) โ€œfor the creation of quantum mechanics.โ€After the war, in a shattered Germany, he helped rebuild science from rubble, fathered West Germanyโ€™s first research reactors, and spent the rest of his life defending the dangerous, beautiful idea that knowledge must remain free, no matter the cost.Happy birthday, Dr. Heisenberg.Thank you for giving us a universe where nothing is ever completely certain, and because of that, everything remains endlessly fascinating.
