🚨🚨🚨 Liberals Gut Sexual Violence Bill As one of their FIRST ACTS, Liberals are using their majority to gut a bill on protecting victims of sexual violence. Opposition parties worked collaboratively at committee to strengthen the bill, and now Liberals are using their undemocratic majority to gut it. In the middle of my speech about protecting victims of sexual violence, a Liberal member heckles: “majority prevails.” Shame.

The Carney Liberals just rejected the multi-partisan work at the defence committee. For three months, the Defence Committee listened to testimony from victims of sexual misconduct in the military and provided ideas on how to fix Bill C-11. We agreed on the amendments and the bill to reform the military justice system was sent to the House. Now that the Liberals have a majority, they have undone all these changes, proving that when victims said, “We want choice,” the Liberals weren’t listening.

“I believe you.” These are the most important words that can be said to a victim of sexual assault. However, the actions taken by Liberals today are telling victims of assault in the Canadian Armed Forces that they do not believe them, and that they do not want our soldiers to be given a choice in the military justice system. Conservatives stand with our brave men and women in uniform and will continue to fight for them in Parliament.
