The rest of college basketball better wake up because Arkansas just went and grabbed a problem. Jordan Smith Jr., the 2026 Naismith High School Player of the Year, is headed to Fayetteville. Let that sink in. This is not hype. This is not potential. This is production, dominance, and a player who just walked through high school defenses like they owed him something. 26.6 points per game. State title. National recognition. That is not a résumé. That is a warning. Now here is where it gets real. Everybody is asking the same question. Can he fill the shoes of Darius Acuff Jr.? 🎙️🎙️🎙️ Veterans Sports Voice Podcast 🎙️🎙️🎙️ After a couple weeks away, I’m getting back in the saddle. The last few weeks have been tough after losing my father. He was a great man, a Godly man, and the one who taught me everything I know about sports. Baseball, competition, and most importantly how to be a sportsman and show respect for the game and the people playing it. If I love sports the way I do today, it is because of him. Tomorrow we’re back with a new episode of Veterans Sports Voice Podcast. I’ll be joined by my guy Ian McCants (@IanMcCants) and we’ve got a lot to get into. We’re breaking down the Alabama quarterback battle and what’s really going on in Tuscaloosa. We’ll dive into the SEC Basketball Tournament and what teams are positioning themselves for a real March run. We’re also going to talk about LSU basketball and where the program stands right now. Head coach Matt McMahon has been in Baton Rouge since 2022, and with LSU’s record this season and the previous few years the next few weeks could be critical for his future. If Coach McMahon does not survive, we’re going to discuss what LSU would have to do to attract a truly elite head coach in today’s college basketball landscape. And if he does survive, then the conversation shifts to what LSU must do to attract elite players, especially in today’s world of NIL and modern roster building. And we’ll close the show with something important Ian wants to discuss about health, because some conversations matter more than sports. For me personally this episode is also a small tribute to my dad, the man who put a ball in my hand, taught me to respect the game, and taught me that competition means nothing without character.
