I understood Shukri bringing Dane Piedt back for the NZ series to bolster up the experience, however his continued selection since then has never made any sense.

One of the worst things of SA domestic cricket is that often after an XI is chosen, guys on the field get shafted one way or another because the XIs don't get chosen with roles as a priority. Too often you see a guy batting 8 and not bowling, or bowlers not getting many overs.

@grantbn6 Should have been an outside pick for the NZ tour. Would have mixed things up with all the trundlers we had.

@ZaahierAdams It was a good effort from Piedt, however it doesn't mean he is now the 2nd best spinner available to SA. Simon Harmer is still far better than he is. Neil Brand took 6 wickets on his Test debut against the same team, but we correctly didn't select him again.

@Shaun_Analytics Name me a spinner who hasn't played Test cricket for five years and takes a five wicket haul on their return... Surely that deserves an extended run?
